Q & A with developers. Part IV

Today we publish part four of our responses to the most frequently asked questions in social networks and on the game forum immediately after the launch of Closed Beta.

Are you going to add battle replays?

We believe that this function is very important for players, and we want to implement it in our game. But most likely, it will not happen during the closed beta stage.

Are you going to add more graphic settings in the game?

It’s not planned in the near future.

What can you say about open world?

We are actively developing the game modes. We believe that it is important for players to face new challenges in building vehicles. But we are currently not working on the open world mode.

Do you plan to add game modes with in-game currency rewards?

We have some ideas about game modes where winners can get rewards in coins. We are planning to release one of these modes very soon. At the moment you can get coins on the market, with purchases of special bundles from the in-game store or you can receive them as a reward for top places in the daily leaderboards.

Will there be an opportunity to exchange items and parts with friends?

Direct exchange of items between players is not planned, but they can sell their parts or buy items from other players on the marketplace.

Are you going to add destruction of buildings and other objects?

At the moment there are no destructible objects in the game. The introduction of such objects will greatly increase system requirements of the game, which we would like to avoid.

Would it be possible to create or buy different types of ammunition for weapons? For example, explosive or incendiary bullets.

We are considering this, at the moment ammunition are provided automatically to survivors, something convenient when players often change weapons (especially at low level). We’ll see if new ammo type can benefit to players.

Do you plan to add more cabins?

We will be adding new cabins to the game. We will share the news as soon as we’re ready.

Will there be people, for example, pedestrians?

At the moment we’re not planning to add pedestrians to the game. Our project is primarily about cars.

Why is copper only awarded in PvE battles?

We believe that players come to our project to get a varied experience. Some love PvP fights, some — PvE missions. Regardless of player preference, they can always get all the necessary parts and resources through the market. In addition, the resource ‘Copper’ is a battle reward only in PvE mode because it balances playstyle demand on the market. Different types of players complement each other. They need each other. And fans of PvE missions still feel their relevance in the game.

Are you going to change the current concept of degradability of parts and, consequently, their repair?

We constantly analyze feedback from our players and statistical data. We change many aspects of the game accordingly. Most recently, we introduced a new concept with repairs, which is very different from the previous approach. However, we believe that at least in a modified form, the concept of destructible parts should remain in the game. This is one of the key features of Crossout, which allows the game to change and give players a new experience. Gradually decreasing part durability gives players the motivation to try new parts, experiment with setups. It is the basis of active use of the Market. It’s important to understand that Crossout is not a game about owning things and repairing them, but about getting a new experience. We aim for a balance where players can easily get parts and equally easily (and painlessly) part with them. Crossout players do not need months to save up for an item, they get new parts often, but they don’t last forever. It's a bold concept, but we are confident that it is the right one.

Do you plan to change the rewards?

According to testing results, we will adjust battle rewards. Including rewards for invasions — the most difficult PvE missions in the game, where players face Leviathans.

What have you planned for the online game store? Are you going to add more bundle or to sell parts?

Right now you can only purchase early access bundles, which include in-game currency “coins” and premade vehicle blueprints together with the necessary parts for their assembly. Parts may gradually come into disrepair and break down. Coins can be spent on the market to purchase parts for new cars. Perhaps in the future we will expand the range of bundles in the store. There may be new bundles with different content, for example, only in-game currency. We are confident that the market will provide the players with all they require.

Why is there no experience for dealing damage?

According to testing results the reward for assistance in the battle may change. Accordingly, the ratio of experience gain for damage in battle may change too.

Would it be possible to have more key to fire weapons (weapons groups and so on)?

Yes, In the future we plan to significantly revise the key assignment system.

Sometime, the damage numbers are hard to see, would it be possible to make them more visible?

The game interface is also being tweaked. At this stage we want to get as much player feedback as possible about what they find comfortable and what they dislike in the current interface.

Why do vehicles slide on their side, like they’re buttered? And physics in general? What are your plans?

We are constantly working on refining the physical model of vehicle behaviour in the game. Our cars are fairly complex models. And our task is to make them behave as realistically as possible in the game. If you see that the behaviour of a machine is not realistic, you need to post a bug report in a special section of the forum.
