New sounds for engines in Crossout!

As part of the transition to a new sound engine, we recorded sounds for individual engines from scratch — today we will share the details of our work!

Survivors! With the update 0.9.60 Crossout switched to a new sound engine. Thanks to this, we will be able to work with sound in the game more efficiently — this concerns not only the optimization of its existing elements, but also the addition of completely new sound effects. And the first serious innovation was the introduction of sounds for individual engines in the game.

Many of you probably noticed that after the update 0.9.75 engines installed on your armored cars, got their own sounds. Their effects were recorded from the ground up to be more authentic. For example, the basis of the sound of the player-favourite ‘Hardcore’ engine was the Plymouth 'Cuda Hemi, and the sound for the epic ‘Cheetah’ was provided by the motor from Plymouth Roadrunner, which in its original state today is very appreciated by collectors and regularly appear in the cinema.

Also worth noting is the detailing of ‘Colossus’. Unlike ‘Hardcore’, it has epic rarity, and this means not only superiority in characteristics, but also a more aggressive and powerful sound. Its sound belongs to the V12 twin turbo of the tank Leopard 2. The German battle tank Leopard 2 was considered one of the best in the world, and its engine with one and a half thousand horsepower is capable of accelerating the multi-ton vehicle to 72 km / h.

In addition, in the world before the catastrophe the ‘Colossus’ was developed specifically for military vehicles. Do we need to say that the engine is very popular in the Wasteland?

And here is a small exclusive — below are some pictures from the process of recording the sounds for engines:

We continue to work with sound in Crossout — so, in the update 0.9.80 there is an option that allows you to switch between the sound of the cabin and the engine for your armored car. The transition to a new sound engine has allowed us to work even more effectively with many technical aspects, and in our change logs you can learn the details of future changes.
