Crossout 0.8.2 - Answers to players questions
On November 15, we released an update 0.8.20 in Crossout. It brought a rebalance of cabins, engines and movement modules. Such large-scale changes raised many questions from the players, and we would like to answer the most popular ones in this video.
To begin with, we would like to explain why such a major change was needed. As you know, Power Scores lie at the heart of matchmaking in Crossout - armored cars participating in a battle are selected according to the quantity and quality of the parts used in their assembly. Previously, heavy cabins could have had high tonnage and gave the player a lot of energy points at the same time. This made it possible to install several powerful guns on the same craft, as well as a large amount of armor and achieve a very high Power Score.Providing the same amount of equipment for a light or medium cabin was technically impossible, otherwise the craft based on it became very slow. Therefore, battles at high power scores had the overwhelming majority of crafts with heavy cabins. In order to fix the monotony of crafts at high levels, it was necessary to equalize the cabins among within the limits of one degree of rarity.
We would like to emphasize that the updated characteristics of the cabins are not final. We are collecting statistical data and studying player feedback. In future, the parameters of power, tonnage and max. mass for some cabins may be changed. Therefore, be sure to share your questions and suggestions on Crossout's social platforms.
Player questions:
- In battle, everyone aims primarily at weapons and wheels, because even with a large amount of armor, but without weapons, you become useless. I can no longer install the same number of weapons on the heavy craft as before. Did it become less effective because of this?
Answer: Changes in the number of energy points in heavy cabins are not as serious as it might seem. You can install generators that give additional energy to your cabin. For example: most assemblies based on the most popular heavy cabin "Humpback" are still possible , with the installation of "Gas generator" or the generator "Apollo".It should also be noted that high tonnage allows you to better protect the weapons of your armored car.To maintain the ability to move in combat, we advise you to install heavy wheels or tracks. Increased structure makes their destruction a rather difficult task.
- Heavy cabins had their tonnage reduced but you say that they will be able to carry a lot of armor. Isn't there a contradiction?
Answer : There is no contradiction.Crafts based on heavy cabins can still take much more armor than crafts based on light cabins. If the total mass of your armored car exceeds its tonnage, it is worthwhile to install additional wheels or replace them with rarer ones. The installation of rarer wheels, tracks or mechanical legs will help increase tonnage even more. Also, do not forget about engines - they can significantly increase the power of your car.
- My armored cars became slow and sluggish. I noticed that movement parts underwent changes. What exactly was changed and why?
Answer: After the upgrade, all movement modules became more balanced and efficient within the crafts for which they were originally conceived. For example, wheels with spikes or up to 6 hovers are best suited for a quick buggy. They slightly reduce vehicle power, thus keeping the high mobility. For a craft with a heavy cabin it is better to use twin or tractor wheels. They will add tonnage for the installation of auxiliary systems and armor. Do not forget about tracks, which became lighter and stronger with the update 0.8.20, and also about mechanical legs. Well, hybrid assemblies are always possible - there's infinite space for experiments.
- The principle of engine operation has completely changed. Why was it necessary, and how do I use them now?
Answer: With the update 0.8.20, epic engines have become more suited to their degree of rarity .We added information on how many percent of this or that engine increases power, maximum weight, tonnage and maximum speed of the armored car.The updated parameters also allow the player to make a choice: either he gets "a bit of everything" without energy costs by installing the Lunatics engines, or emphasizes certain parameters and significantly increases them by installing the energy-consuming engines of Scavengers and Nomads.
- Due to the adjustment of part parameters, their price on the market has significantly changed. The parts I wanted to sell are now cheaper than before. How can I earn money for new weapons and modules?
Answer: due to the fact that the prices on the market for parts are set by the players themselves, it is difficult to avoid fluctuations with certain changes. However, we would advise players not to rush to get rid of the parts at once and watch for price changes. As a rule, after a while, prices for parts with changed parameters return to a level similar to the previous one. In addition, there are always such methods as earning and selling resources, as well as creating new parts with their subsequent sale.
- High difficulty raids can not be completed on those crafts that you can build now. Are you going to do something about it?
Answer: In update 0.8.20, a lot of significant changes were introduced to the game, and some high-level raids really became too difficult to complete. Based on the first statistical data and feedback from the players, we have already made a decision on the re-balance of the raid "Chase". We will continue to collect statistics and study your feedback, and if necessary, other raids will be adjusted.
- You have imposed a penalty for hovers, if their number on an armored car exceeds 4 pcs. What are the reasons for such changes? Why is the restriction set at exactly 4 hovers, not 8 or at least 6? One hover in combat is easy to lose, and on 3 hovers the machine becomes uncontrollable.
Answer: Initially, hovers were planned as a completely new means of transportation for light and fast cars. However, in their previous state they became a universal means of transportation for all armored vehicles. Heavy and light crafts on hovers were equally fast and maneuverable. Now hovers remain just as effective, but mostly within the framework of light vehicles, and their number directly affects acceleration of the armored car. At the same time, a significant drop in power occurs at 9 hovers and more.Crafts on 6 and even 8 hovers are still quite mobile, although slower than those on 4.
- In the update, the mechanics of explosions have changed. How did this affect explosion power? Can allies be damaged by the explosion?
Answer: The previous system of explosions was difficult to predict, because of fragment trajectory. Now the system is closer to the one originally intended. To achieve maximum damage, it is recommended to aim at the accumulation of parts on an enemy armored car. As for the damage to allies, no additional changes were made to this aspect. Allies are not damaged by your explosions.
- Do you take into account feedback about the update from players on the forum and other places? Do you have any ideas about the next changes in connection with this?
Answer: We closely monitor the reaction of players to any changes in the game, and we try to keep in touch on all social platforms.Feedback of the Crossout community helps us to pay attention to things that need further improvement.
Crossout is still at the stage of open beta testing. This means that the game may have major changes. We took into account the experience we gained and in the future we will keep you informed of the coming updates. In addition, we will try to introduce them gradually.
