Radio “Voice of the Wasteland”

Not everything is lost and life is not over as long as you have a good story and a friend to tell it to. And I’m glad I have you, my reader, trying to find a quote in the text and waiting for new insights.

This is Murch and another episode of “Voice of the Wasteland”. And we shall begin with the most popular comment of the previous episode (the spelling has been preserved):

“A hunt for a caterpillar? Like for a drone carrier or something?”

No, dear reader, exactly for the caterpillar! How could one switch from a beautiful, green caterpillar to something like that? Moreover, the author also received support from others. Oh well. But the comment is perfect, because it, among other things, approves the action chosen by other readers. So I went to get the caterpillar. But what I found wasn’t exactly it.

I’ve only read about insects in books before — have you seen a lot of those in the Wasteland? If so, I ask for photographic evidence! Meanwhile, I went to the area where I woke up. Yes, I was convinced that I was delusional, but what if… what if this place is special?
An unremarkable empty lot surrounded by a bar, a market, and a half-ruined garage. Mindful of the consequences of the last trip to the bar, I had to go either to the market or to the garage. But there was some howling in the market about discounts, new armoured cars, and other incoherent things, so I decided to start with something a little more quiet.

Half of the building was gone, as if it had been licked by a giant cow (oh, what a fantasy!), but the path was blocked by the gates. Good thing they weren’t locked. With a loud squeak and a lot of effort, I managed to move one of them.

The garage was definitely abandoned, different scrap was just lying around. The walls were covered with different writings and debris was scattered everywhere. But in the middle of all this, there was a photo attached to the far wall. I don’t know why they didn’t tear it down, take it away, or burn it right there. But it got my full attention. And I’m sorry, I totally forgot about some caterpillar out there, because this should fascinate any survivor:

And while I’m standing there staring at the photo, you can choose the next step:

  1. Go to the market;
  2. Go to the bar;
  3. Throw out the photo and go home;
  4. Upgrade my armoured car;
  5. Check the echo in the garage.

Discuss it here!
