Radio “Voice of the Wasteland”

Hello there, survivors! “Voice of the Wasteland” is here once again — the only radio in the Valley that your old receivers can tune into. There's only two of us in this studio: me and my conscience. Just kidding — I, Brother Porcupine, have no conscience. I do have Valla! Brew some tea and listen (or read if that's your thing).

In today's edition:

  • a letter from our favourite listeners. And once again… damn, forgot the word. Memory's not the same these days.
  • Photos from far-far away. You weren't there, so let me brag.

Without further ado, let's move on to our listener's letter:

“Here's the story: I drove to the Porcupines to test a new kind of armoured recon cars. (note from Porcupine — Grandma always said I was the only one with this name, no idea what kind of Porcupines we're talking about). The funny thing is that this is not invisibility or some other trick we see everywhere but an actual box (!). When I arrived and saw it, I immediately uttered: “A very strange design”. They smirked and said: “The trick is that your horse is trojan”. Strange, my horse was chestnut, never had a trojan. And the box itself looked as if it took some pills… My aunt told me this joke, she worked as a pharmacist before Crossout. I still don't understand it, though. Nor the aunt, neither the joke.

I can't draw you this, I have a non-disclosure agreement but imagine a brick. Got it? I'll wait. I see, yes, you imagined it. Now imagine that it has two bulged eyes. A couple of harpoons too.
But, after a while, when I decided to go visit them again, this box disappeared. And mechanics there didn't know what happened to this “miracle of engineering”. Though some say that Psycho Pete bought a car like this from their leader. It's quite possible, given that his brain has Wasteland-itis”

Well, what do you think of the story, Valla?

— Psycho Pete, who dreams bright visions, decides to buy a brick. That brick with eyes like balloons attracts him as if with harpoons.

Um, you didn't give us any new information. Tired, right?

— Indeed. Yeah right.

Okay, let me tell our favourite listeners about a new place I've been this weekend. You get some rest. I made some pictures for you, too. To reinforce the story!

I liked the new place so much that I spent the whole day there. I don't even spend that much time in the studio. Walked, wandered and rejoiced in every ray of sunshine. That day the weather was changeable, like a nightmare. But I took so many pictures.

Look at the first shot. It's dawn. I arrived at the scene at night and immediately passed out. And so I woke up from the morning sun and the smell of fresh grass. It smelled like wildflowers and a good start to the day.

I drove around, I was alone with nature, I talked to the wind. My buddy lives nearby, they call him Wind.

Back at the lighthouse, I met someone, but I can't tell you anything. That damsel… Ahem, sorry, my crush. She told me to keep my trap shut. So, while we were having a nice conversation, it was like hell turned on us. Like… Someone bought all the black paint on the market and dyed the sky. Yes, that dark.

The sky was full of clouds, thunderstorm and rain, but we were sitting in the car so not that scared (and on the driver's side I also had a protective glass, so I was fine). But then I looked at a little bit of grey sky in the middle of a black cloud. I kept looking and thinking about it. Even in such difficult times, we can see the light. And I felt that everything could be alright even after desperate times.

So yes — the rain passed quickly, and the clouds dispersed after a few hours. We sat and watched the golden sunset. The smell of ozone and wet soil, dark silhouettes of the towers in golden light. Like nature says: “Well, I told you, Porcupine, everything will be fine”. And I felt warmth in my heart. Though maybe it's because the heater was working on the driver's side. It is a pity that my date did not share this philosophical mood. Didn't really have the mindset, she said. Women, am I right? What are they thinking?
In fact, most of all on earth, brothers and sisters, I love the sky. I think about it and realize that we are all part of something big and… it's… beautiful!

Hey, what do you think, Survivor? Yes, you. The good friend listening to us now. Take a look at the photos and write a letter, in what weather would you like to be in those parts? What's the most exciting landscape? We will be glad to read from you!
